Dreams are Goals Without a Plan

Are you the type of person that just seems to have creative ideas constantly flowing in and out of your mind? No matter if you are working out, in the shower, driving to a destination, or cooking, a random idea can just pop into your mind.

I am that person. I wouldn't call myself the most creative person to ever live, but I always seem to have some really creative ideas pop into my head. Sometimes they are blog posts, new book ideas, or even TikToks I have never seen created yet.

I think it is great for my brain to constantly bombard me with new and interesting things, but my only issue is that they remain in my brain or written down in my notes for long periods of time. In fact, the ones that actually do end up becoming a reality are the lucky ones.

I am working on trying to get those ideas out of my brain, off the pages and into the real world.

What is holding me back?

I think the main issue that I have when it comes to acting on these ideas is not forming a plan for them. The motivation and desire to act upon these ideas is evident but the action is not. It takes a little more than motivation to actually see things through.

With a plan, I believe the idea becomes something more. It is no longer a thought that came and went through your mind. It is now a thought with potential to be something greater.

Creating a plan is almost like giving that idea authority over you, as if the thought is commanding you to take action. You've already put effort into creating that plan and now you can't stop thinking about fulfilling it. You cannot allow the idea to dwindle anymore than it can leave you alone.

My question for myself, and anyone else that may be wondering the same, is: Why can't I make it to the planning stage? What is holding me back?

There might be a lot of answers to that question. It could be that I might be afraid of being judged. It could also be that I may not have all of the materials I need to bring the idea to life. I might not have the enthusiasm for the idea. Or I might not think the idea is that great to begin with.

Now, of course these are not exactly pertaining to me, but all of those things could cause anybody to lose faith in an original creation. I need to actually ask myself this question and answer it truthfully in order to determine what is truly holding me back.

It's time to see it through.

Coming up with an idea is extremely easy. Anybody can do it no matter if it is good or bad. The hard part is actually bringing that idea to life.

I talk about creating a plan, but that is only the first step. Following that plan and staying diligent to it also comes into play.

If you have an idea, come up with some type of plan, schedule or list to help you bring that idea to life and see it through. Everyone is unique and has the ability to create new and exciting things. Holding off on that idea in your brain means that you are holding off on me and everyone else in the world that is anxious to see what amazing things you create.

Writing this blog post now is actually motivating me to go review some old ideas I already have written down and start brainstorming their creation process. Of course, like I said earlier, it will take more than motivation to see things through, so it comes down to making a decision for myself and that idea. I have to look within myself and ask those questions I mentioned earlier. That will help me to decide the answer to this final question: Do I really want to see this creation come to life?

I suppose you readers will see the answers I made as time goes on. In the meantime, I want to thank all of you that have been finding the time to read my blog. It really means a lot and I appreciate you following me along my journey of becoming an established writer.

Until the next post.
